The Public Works Department oversees the Streets, Refuse, Cemetery and Water and Wastewater and Animal Control. Mr. Carl Cross is the Public Works Director. 

In 2023 the City will be working on several new projects.  With the help of grants, we have been able to complete another section of Front Street adding new sidewalks, updating the lighting and repaving from Pine to Quay Streets. The City has also been able to improve the drainage in Merritt Park and repave Merritt Park Drive.  Our next project this year, will be to add a sidewalk on Quay Street from 5th Street to the entrance of Tyson. 

The soccer complex on Pecan Street will be developing.  The Parks and Recreational facilities have been upgraded and painted and future upgrades are being planned including a dog park. 

We completed upgrading the Wastewater Facility in 2022. The Water Department has added three new wells to ensure the city has a sufficient supply of water for all citizens needs.

During 2022, a columbarium was added to the cemetery.  Work will begin soon on restoring the historic gazebo.
